On 30 October 2016, the choir of the Junges Ensemble Berlin, together with the Prometheus Ensemble Berlin, will perform the Requiems by Tigran Mansurian and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert will take place under the direction of Frank Markowitsch at 8:00 pm in the chamber music hall of the Berlin Philharmonie.
This performance will mark the end of an 18-year collaboration between Frank Markowitsch and the choir of the Junges Ensemble Berlin. Markowitsch, who since 2015 has been a professor for choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, says that “over the years, this ensemble has become for me like a second family.”
The internationally acclaimed conductor has been Artistic Director of the choir since 1998, and has molded it into an outstanding performing ensemble. Markowitsch and the members of the choir are especially proud of the many interdisciplinary projects they have undertaken together: the choir’s concerts were regularly enhanced by thematically relevant symposiums or cooperative programs with schools.
