Following their celebrated New Year’s performance of Haydn’s “Creation”, Frank Markowitsch and the RIAS Chamber Choir are preparing another large oratorio, Felix Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”, with performances on 2, 6, and 8 April in Freiburg (Konzerthaus), Paris (Philharmonie), and Madrid (Teatro Real). Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra with soloists Matthias Goerne (bass), Sophie Karthäuser (soprano), Sebastian Kohlhepp (tenor), and Marianne Beate Kielland (mezzo soprano).
