The Vokalakademie Berlin and Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, prepared by Frank Markowitsch, will bring a program with rarely performed works to the Cologne Philharmonie on 21 March 2018. With Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Christ on the Mount of Olives” and Franz Schubert’s “Stabat Mater”, the two Viennese classical composers will be presented in a new light. The two ensembles have performed the works individually at the Musikfest Bremen, the Klara Festival in Antwerp, and at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, but never together in a single concert. This choral voyage of discovery will be conducted by Jérémier Rhorer; the solo parts will be sung by Marita Sølberg (soprano), Daniel Behle (tenor), and Jean-Sébastien Bou (baritone).
