Conducted by its Artistic Director Frank Markowitsch, the Vokalakademie Berlin introduced itself to Freiburg audiences with Sascha von Donat’s version for children and families of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. The three performances in Freiburg’s Friedenskirche and the parish church St. Peter and Paul in Freiburg-St. Georgen were an impressive calling card for the ensemble. The concerts were a spectacular success, with tickets sold out so far in advance that the dress rehearsal was opened to the public. This allowed a total of more than 1,500 children and adults to hear Frank Markowitsch’s first Freiburg performances with his own vocal ensemble and the newly founded Prometheus Ensemble Freiburg.
