They never got bored during the last year. After the concerts with Britten’s War Requiem and the appearance at the finals of the Football Champions League in the Berlin Olympic Stadium the next highlight is waiting for the musicians of the Choir of the Junge Ensemble Berlin: They will travel to Colombia for a ten days tour. The Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín has invited the ensemble to joint performances in the second-largest city of Colombia. The repertoire will be the First Walpurgis Night by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy along with the Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody and the Requiem for Mignon by Robert Schumann.
Musically the trip is highly valuable, the effect on each musicians will be priceless. Only those can make music passionately who enjoy the music – and the community with others. New relationships and friendships as well as an intensive cultural exchange with the South American musicians are the most important goals of this tour.
Frank Markowitsch will conduct two concerts together with the Colombian orchestra:
Thursday, October 22nd, 7pm, Church Santa Teresita (Medellín)
Friday, Octover 23rd, 8pm, Teatro Metropolitano (Medellín).
