On the 1st of February, Frank Markowitsch conducted the first part of Händel’s Messiah and Bach’s Magnificat in his first concert with the choir and the Kammerensemble of the Hochschule Freiburg. The review in the Badische Zeitung was quite enthusiastic:
“Already in Händel’s Messiah in the first part of the evening the choir presented itself with highly refined vocal culture and perfect intonation. Also the balance between the voice groups and the transparency in the fugues as for example in “And he shall purify” were very pleasing. The chamber ensemble of the Institute for historical performances performed at an equally high level, too.”
